F.A.Q.

What is the blog for?
We love quilting, and all the many aspects of it. Our blog is set up to share the information that we have learned and collected over the years. We’re currently working on posting different things, like Tips and Tricks to using the long arm quilting machine, Fun Ideas for quilting projects, pictures of Quilted Quilts done by The Quilter’s Elf, and challenges we do with The Sew Flakes.

I have a quilt I would like quilted, but I don’t live in the Houston, TX area. How do I get quilting services?
Don’t worry, we’ve done out of state quilts before! Please let us know the type of quilt top you have, the size of your quilt, and the general idea of how you want it to be quilted. If you have a pattern you’ve found and want it on your quilt, include that information. And if you can take a picture of your quilt top, make sure to include that too!
If you leave us a phone number and the best time during the week we can reach you, we’d love to talk to you directly. With the information you include, we’ll have a good idea on what is possible. The phone conversation is to make sure our visions are matching up. At the end our our phone conversation we’ll send you more information on where to ship your quilt top and any special instructions you may need to make a easy shipment. When the quilt is finished, we ship it back to you. Then you have a wonderful masterpiece ready to bind!

I can’t find a pattern that I want for my quilt. What do I do?
Sometimes you know what will look perfect on a quilt, but there is no pattern to be found on any of the sites you are familiar with. Never fear, we have custom design services available. Even if you just have a vague idea, you can request a custom design with just a written description. Of course, any sketches are incredibly helpful. No need to be perfect – art skills are not required. We’ll take your description and/or sketch(es) and create a digital pattern ready for quilting.
