May Block Two: Wheel in the Road

You will need 5 Fabrics: Use the Coloring Diagram as needed.

1 – Cut:        

  • Background Fabric:
    • Cut (6) squares 3 7/8” then Sub Cut on one diagonal
    • Cut (1) square 4 1/4” then Sub Cut on BOTH diagonals
  • Color Fabric One
    • Cut (2) squares 3 7/8” then Sub Cut on one diagonal
  • Color Fabric Two
    • Cut (2) squares 3 7/8” then Sub Cut on one diagonal
  • Color Fabric Three
    • Cut (1) square 7 1/4” then Sub Cut on BOTH diagonals
  • Color Fabric Four
    • Cut (1) square 4 1/4″ then Sub Cut on BOTH diagonals

2 – Make Tri-Color Block: Make (4) Tri-Color Blocks the two smaller triangles (Color Fabric Four and Background Fabric) with one HST (Color Fabric One). See diagram.

3 – Create Middle Wheel: Arrange the Tri-Color Fabric Blocks as shown in the diagram and sew together.

4 – Corner Blocks: Make (4) Corner Blocks using two HSTs (Color Fabric Two and Background Fabric). See diagram.

5 – Flying Geese: Make (4) Flying Geese using the larger Color Fabric Three triangles with two HSTs of Background Fabric. See diagram.

6 – Arrange: Arrange (1) Middle Wheel, (4) Flying Geese, and (4) Corner Blocks as shown in the diagram. Sew together in order shown in the diagram.

7 – Complete: Your completed block should measure 12.5” square.
