June Block One: Kitty Corner

You will need 3 Fabrics: Use the Coloring Diagram as needed.

1 – Cut:        

1 – Cut:        

  • Background Fabric:
    • Cut (1) 4 1/2” x 16” strip then Sub Cut (8) 4 1/2” x 1 7/8” rectangles
      Cut (8) 2 7/8″ squares then Sub Cut on one diagonal
  • Fabric One
    • Cut (1) 3 3/8” x 16 strip then Sub Cut (4) 3 3/8” squares
  • Focus Fabric
    • Cut (1) 4 1/2” x 8” strip then Sub Cut (4) 4 1/2” x 1 7/8” rectangles
    • Cut (1) 4 1/2” square

Julie’s Note: Refer to the attached instructions for tips on sewing square on point for this next step. The points of the Corner Blocks do not reach the outer edge. This is how it needs to be. There needs to be a 1/4″ seam allowance for the future steps.

1 – Sew Corner Blocks: Sew Background Fabric triangles to opposite corners of the 3 3/8″ Fabric One squares. Make (4) total Corner blocks. See diagram.

2 – Sew Stripe Blocks: Sew (2) 4 1/2” x 1 7/8” Background Fabric rectangles on either side of (1) 4 1/2” x 1 7/8” Focus Fabric rectangle. Make (4) total Stripe blocks. See diagram.

8 – Arrange: Arrange (1) 4 1/2” Focus Fabric square, (4) Strip Blocks, and (4) Corner Blocks as shown in the diagram. Sew together in order shown in the diagram.

7 – Complete: Your completed block should measure 12.5” square.
