Happy June, Sew Flakes!
It is hard to believe we are already approaching the halfway mark of 2026. This also means our 2026 Mystery Quilt has reached its midpoint. If you have completed all the blocks through May, congratulations on being halfway done!
Today, you are receiving the June blocks:
– Block One: This block features the “square on point” challenge. For those on our email list, I have included a separate instruction sheet for this technique. When you reach step one of the block instructions, you can refer to that sheet for my specific tips on assembly.
– Block Two: While this block may look complicated, it isn’t. The primary challenge is keeping the colors organized. I strongly recommend using your color sheet and attaching small fabric swatches to help track your progress.
A quick note on cutting: while the instructions are correct, I found myself making a few errors on my practice block. Despite that, it was a fun block to complete and I really love the result.
You may also notice that I add extra length to the strip measurements. I do this intentionally to allow for minor adjustments if a ruler slips during sub-cutting. This extra bit of fabric ensures you can even up your edges without wasting significant material.
Your June To-Do List:
- Complete Block One: Kitty Corner
- Complete Block Two: Entwined Star
This has been a “challenge quilt” in more ways than one, but we are all meeting that challenge together. Yay Sew Flakes!
Happy quilting and have a wonderful start to your summer!
Julie
