Hi everyone,

Welcome to August!

Did you know that August is “Happiness Happens Month”? While officially marked on August 8, the celebration carries on all month long to encourage everyone to embrace joyful moments, choose happiness, and share positivity.

On that note, it is wonderful to see everyone sewing the 2026 Sew Flake Mystery Quilt and creating alongside fellow members who share the same passion. A big round of applause to the three Sew Flake members who are officially up to date with the Mystery Quilt Challenge!  Woot ^^ Woot^^

Your August To-Do List:

1. Complete Block One: Indiana Puzzle
2. Complete Block Two: Salem Star

Those on the email list, you will find the instructions and color pages for the August Mystery Quilt Blocks. Both blocks are fairly simple to sew, but please pay special attention to the instructions regarding when to use scant 1/4″ seams versus regular 1/4″ seams. Block two utilizes a “waste” factor to achieve the best results for the flying geese and block-in-a-square elements.

For block one, feel free to be creative—you do not need to stick to a two-color fabric layout and can change it up by using the color page.
